In
the early 1920's, development began on the Balboa Peninsula of Newport
Bay. This house was the first of two vacation homes built on the
Pacific Ocean at the tip of the peninsula, which has seen development
into one of the the premier residential communities in the country.
The shingle style architecture is reminiscent of large beach houses
built years earlier on the Atlantic East Coast and has historical
significance in Southern California.
