Everett
High School, designed in 1910 and listed in the National Register
of Historic Places, is an impressive example of Beaux Arts Academic
Classicism. The school is rich in detail, constructed of brick with
ornamental terra cotta entrance arches, window trim and cornice.
The historic entry was restored, and new formal entry stairs were added.
The building's interior was returned to its original clarity, removing
alterations. The historic character was retained with 16 foot wide
corridors, generous interior stairs, and a series of focal public
spaces, including the library, administration area and student assembly
spaces. The high school site was designed with open lawn, arch sidewalks,
and formal tree plantings that reinforce the circulation plan and
the formality of the architecture.
