This
historic school was surplused by the School District. Cardwell
Architects, working with the School District and the Historic
Seattle Preservation and Development Authority, converted the school
to 49 living units. Preservation of the building through adaptive
reuse offered the opportunity to save this important community landmark.
The modifications respect the formality and elegance of the building.
Architectural spaces and the architectural character of the old
school were preserved and adapted to new residential functions.
