St.
Mark's Cathedral, begun in 1929, is the Cathedral for the Episcopal
Church Diocese of Olympia and an architectural monument for the
City of Seattle. The Great Depression of the 1930s forced a scaling
down of the grand plan for the cathedral, and despite two additions,
the cathedral remains incomplete. The Vestry selected Cardwell
Architects to prepare a rehabilitation study and master plan
that responded to current and future programmatic requirements.
The work included a thorough investigative survey of the cathedral,
including the building envelope and structural, mechanical and electrical
systems.
